MAN O’ WAR

by Kentucky For Kentucky |

Man O’ War was a kick ass Kentuckian. He is considered one of the greatest thoroughbred race horses of all time, winning 20 out 21 races. Man O’ War kicked so much ass, the heavy metal band Manowar stole their name from him. Ever hear of a heavy metal band named ‘The George Clooneys’? Nope, not epic enough. ‘Lil Daniel Boones’? Nope, not epic enough. ‘The Martha Layne Collins Experience’? Hell no! Man O’ War was a metal ass kicker that crushed anything that got in his way.

As a tribute to Man O’ War, Olive Hill¬†Tim Jones designed and hand printed the epic print shown below. Printed on French Paper Company paper in Man O’ War’s classic colors of yellow and black. This is the fifth print in Tim’s ‘Kick Ass Kentuckian’ series. Only 150 will be available for sale. Only $25.

Tuesday April 30th 5:30-7:30pm at the Morris Book Shop in Lexington KY

Wednesday May 1st 6:30-9:30 at Farmington Historic Plantation in Louisville KY.

Prints will also be available online this week. Date and time to be announced.

Below you’ll find some photographs by Landon Antonetti of Tim’s epic Man O’ War print shot at Man O’ War’s actual barn.

There are more barrels of bourbon than people in Kentucky.
