A small run of new art prints celebrating Wendell Berry will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27. Half of all proceeds directly benefit the nonprofit Berry Center.
Poet, farmer, essayist, environmental advocate and all-around kick-ass Kentuckian Wendell Berry has written many powerful essays about the importance of a sustainable agrarian economy, but the crux of his philosophy can perhaps be best summed up by this succinct statement: “What I stand for is what I stand on.”
It’s a simple truth that makes clear what’s important and where to draw the line. If you agree, you’ll definitely want to purchase these amazing new art prints celebrating Wendell’s quote when they go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27. Only 250 signed and numbered prints will be available.
Designed by Louisville-based graphic artist Bryan Patrick Todd, each print is screenprinted on high-quality French paper by The Giant Robot. You might recognize Bryan’s work from high-profile murals and logos found around the world. His work has been recognized by the Type Directors Club and featured in Communications Arts, Hypebeast, Vice, and Complex.
“This project is really special for me,” Bryan says. “Wendell’s words are inspiring, especially during this time in our nation as we are entering uncharted waters, both nationally and in Kentucky. Knowing what we stand for right now is more important than ever. Wendell is a national treasure, and it was an honor to be able to create a composition of this amazing quote.”
These beautiful prints aren’t all show. Fifty percent of all proceeds from their sale will go directly to support The Berry Center and its mission. The nonprofit Berry Center works to put Wendell Berry’s writings to work by “advocating for farmers, land-conserving communities and healthy regional economies.” You can read more about The Berry Center and its important work here.
